Mitchell Orange stealth carbon Paddle
Been meaning to do this review for a few weeks but weather,
work and christmas put a stop on things. Finally got out. LLandudno
3rd jan.
First impressions - Stunning looks. The paddle is finished to a
very high standard 215 cm, 2 piece carbon with a positive twistgrip
connector. the paddle is adjustable both in length and feather. The
2 piece shaft has a good looking square pattern in the carbon weave
and also has a slight increase in diameter for correct grip
position. The blades have a good curve to help move the water. The
front face of the blades are carbon colour with a good pattern and
the rear of the bladed are a solid bright orange.
The blade ends have been made slightly thicker to protect from
chipping and have been trimmed to perfection, not a sharp edge or
trimming mark to be seen.
If the paddle is held up and turned it can be seen from quite a
distance in either light or dull conditions owing to the 2
colours.
Now. How does it perform?
Comfy to hold and 8 ounces lighter than my fibre glass/plastic
paddle.
at first i had a bit of a problem. Having touring blades, they are
narrower than my old paddle. After a few minuts out i realised i
was submersing the blades too deep. With shallower strokes the long
narrow blades cut into and left the water with ease making paddling
quite effortless. As the day went on the paddle grew on me. The
more i used it the more i liked it.
This paddle retails for £179.99 and for the quality and finish i
think it is good value for money.
