fitting a fish finder on a sib
I wanted to fit a fish finder to the sib but several things are problematic with doing this i.e. how to fit the transducer my aim was to fit everything so I could remove it when the sib is being packed away so it needs to be a way of quickly removing everything and setting up to be just as easy
I made the transducer bracket from some scrap aluminium this would make it strong and rust proof and with the hump screws make it very quick to set up and remove
With the transducer mount removed it just leaves a small piece of aluminium box track on the transom of the sib
The transducer mount is easily removed for storage
When in place the transducer becomes adjustable to my desired depth
The fish finder head unit is mounted on a ball mount holder making it easy to adjust to any angle for viewing
Note the coiled surplus transducer cable securely wrapped with a couple of cable ties and popped on the ball mount for easy storage out of the way
The whole system comes off the sib ready for
transporting.
It took me about 3 hours to make this bracket most of the time was
spent shaping the aluminium but with this system I can attach the
fish finder and transducer to the boat in less than 1 minute and
remove it in the same time
